Vibration damping in ships and offshore platforms
Vibrations on ships and offshore platforms can damage systems, structures and sensitive equipment. In addition, noise caused by vibrations can have a negative impact on the comfort, health and productivity of people on board.
What does vibration damping do?
Vibration damping ensures that equipment and engines on board ships cannot transfer vibrations to the hull, or that vibrations in the hull are not transferred to the interior. When this is properly calculated and implemented, a good vibration damping solution can ensure a much lower noise level.
Solutions in vibration damping
For decades, ISOPARTNER has been providing solutions for vibrations based on the elastic polyurethane Sylomer in ship and yacht building. The excellent vibration-isolating and vibration-damping properties reduce wear and noise nuisance on board.
Sylomer (SR), our vibration damping range of products for yacht building
ISOPARTNER Netherlands has a range of vibration damping polyurethane products for use in yacht building: Sylomer SR. These lightweight products are resistant to water, salt water, oil and grease and have the optimum ratio between dynamic and static stiffness. Sylomer products are easy to install and thanks to their low thickness, floors remain low. The products contain no plasticizers, silicones or other harmful substances.
This range has excellent vibration damping and insulation properties with long life and consistent product properties over decades. This keeps the acoustic insulating properties of floors and walls.
If fewer requirements are placed on vibration damping and flammability, our Absobel Agglo product can also be used.
